(Click here for the English version) „Orientierungsläufe in den Bergen Großbritanniens… ich liebe sie einfach.“ Das sagte mein Kumpel, den ich beim Everest-Marathon kennengelernt habe und, nachdem er mich mit seinem Begeisterung von Bergmarathons überzeugt hatte, überredete ermich, mich und einige seiner Freunde für die OMM in Wales anzumelden. Schneller Vorlauf ein paar Monate - Registrierung vorgenommen, Flugtickets und Hotels gebucht - mein Kumpel und seine beiden Freunde mussten aus verschiedenen Gründen aussteigen, und da steckte ich, etwas in der Klemme. Nach einigen E-Mails mit der Organisation und etwas Glück in der FB OMM-Läufergruppe fand ich einen neuen Partner, der von seinem verletzten Kumpel ebenfalls trocken gelassen wurde. Mein Flug war an einem Donnerstagabend, am gleichen Abend dem mein Mann nach einer Geschäftsreise nach Sudkorea nach Hause kam. “Orienteering races in the hills of the UK… I just love them.” That’s what my buddy said who I’d met at the Everest Marathon and who, after enthusiastically praising navigational mountain marathons, subsequently talked me into joining him and a couple of his friends for the OMM in Wales. Fast forward a couple of months—registration made, plane tickets and hotels booked—my buddy and both his friends had to drop out for various reasons and there I was, left in somewhat of a bind. After some emails with the organisation, and some luck in the FB OMM Competitors Group, I found a new partner who’d also been left high-and-dry by his injured mate.  My flight out was on a Thursday night which coincided with my husband arriving home after a business trip to Seoul.
